Tire Technician

Pay Range: $20-$30/hr based on experience

Job Summary

This position will be responsible for completing all work needed in the shop to include but not limited to:

  • Changing and balancing tires
  • Alignments
  • Front-end work
  • Brake work
  • Oil changes
  • Installing lift kits
  • Quoting customers on work needed or additional work needed
  • Answering phones
  • Working with clients to discuss work needed or completed
  • Ordering tires
  • Ordering parts
  • Maintaining a clean work environment (including tire organization within shop and waste tire pile) 
  • Other tasks as assigned
Education and Experience

Required: 
High School Diploma – or the equivalent (for example, GED)

Desired: 

  • Post-secondary certificate 
  • At least 3 years experience in the tire/automotive field
Knowledge

Must have a basic knowledge of vehicles and golf carts. Must be able to efficiently use and operate a computer.

Basic Skills

  • Active Learning-  Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Active Listening-  Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Critical Thinking- Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

Resource Management Skills

  • Management of Material Resources-  Obtaining and seeing to the appropriate use of equipment, facilities, and materials needed to do certain work.
  • Time Management-  Managing one’s own time.
Work Context
  • Communication – Frequent communication with clients, office personnel, and owner.
  • Role Relationships – Must be able to work well with owner, office personnel, and outside vendors to maintain well established relationships.
  • Responsibility for Others – None, this is not a management role.
  • Work Setting – This position will be mainly in a covered open area shop.
  • Environmental Conditions – Working in outside heat and cold.
  • Work Attire – Uniform will be provided.
